A car is recommended not only for getting to us but also for making the most of nearby places to visit.
Public transport is very limited in these parts and taxis are expensive. We have had guests arrive by bike and we take our hats off to them; it’s not an easy option.
It is possible to take a train to Kyle and a taxi to Glenelg (for Taigh Whin or Nead Bernera) or a train to Strathcarron and a taxi to Shieldaig (for Feada Coille) but the taxi may be expensive.
You can get a voucher for a taxi between Kyle - Glenelg for £5 by following the instructions here. If you choose to do this, we recommend buying food and anything else you may need for your stay at co-op in Kyle and then asking the taxi to pick you up there.
-

-
Unfortunately we are not able to accommodate dogs, and are unable to make any exceptions, except for service dogs.
-
We do not have any special facilities for babies or children, but they are welcome to stay. There are plenty of games, puzzles and children's books available.
-
Heating is free of charge in all buildings.
Taigh Whin and Feada Coille both have wood-burning stoves. A small amount of starter wood is provided, enough for a fire on your first night, and there are plenty of firelighters and matches. Extra wood can be purchased from local shops.
-
Yes, there is a washing machine and electric drying rack in all the buildings and laundry liquid is provided.
-
No, unfortunately we do not. Guests travelling by electric car will be able to charge using a long cable if they bring one. We ask for a £40 contribution to the Turadh bursary fund for anyone charging their car during their stay.
-
Regrettably we are not fully DDA compliant. However both Taigh Whin and Nead Bernera are on a single level with step-free access. Feada Coille is also on a single level but accessed by three steps up.
Please feel free to get in touch at hello@turadh.org.uk with any specific access queries.
